28/January/2008 - Black Industries Announcement Black Industries regret to announce that Dark Heresy: Disciples of the Dark Gods out in September will be the final product to be released from Black Industries.
Kevin Rountree General Manager of BL Publishing said ‘As a result of the continued and impressive success of our core novels business, which we have built around 40K and Warhammer, we have decided to focus all of our efforts on growing this part of our business. Black Industries has seen fantastic success, most recently with Talisman and Dark Heresy. This change does not take away from that achievement rather it allows BL Publishing to focus on producing the best novels we can. This is a purely commercial decision and will enable us to carry on the huge growth that we have recently been experiencing with our novels’
For the time being Black Industries will continue to post articles in support of the products on their official website, which is a fantastic resource for scenarios and gaming tools for GM’s and players alike.
Fuck you Games Workshop. With a shovel. Sideways.

Well, there goes my main reason for wanting to play SWG. I'll be sad to see them go - a strict Stormtrooper RP group would have been awesome to game with.

Well, the good kind of homicidal at least. ..
After stumbling across http://homepage.ntlworld.com/debnron/assassins/ at the RPG.Net forums and through a convoluted series of links finding KAOS (http://kaos.org.nz/) I got to thinking: it's been far, far too long a time since I played Killer... (http://www.sjgames.com/killer/ )And I'm sure I remember glissom and kittenmorag discussing forming a KAOS chapter at some point - I think it was at glissom's last birthday party. I know badmandi, myself and a bloke who's name I don't remember made an attempt to run it at cons, but that kinda fizzled. (No, I'm not cranky cause I kept on getting killed far too easily, no sirree Bob...)
So, anyone interested?
And Malevolent Order of the Multiple Orgasm (http://paradise.gen.nz/~sloth/000820/html/000812d.html) is one of the most awesome things I've heard in years. :)
EDIT: Woah.
Gah. Can't get links to work. Go to Amazon and search for Nerf, then check out the N-Strike Maverick and the Big Bad Bow. My inner child (And adult nerd) is screaming for those things.

In news just in from the I94 Bar (www.i94bar.com) :EXCLUSIVE: STOOGES COMING TO AUSTRALIA No official announcement yet but the Stooges are doing the Big Day Out festivals in Australia in January, 2006. Our source is impeccable and you heard it here first. Proof that there is a god.
YES, YOU HEARD IT: THE STOOGES!!!!!!
Led by the heavyweight King of Rock and Roll himself Mr Iggy Pop, with Ron Asheton on guitar, Scott 'Rock Action' Asheton on drums and Mike Watt on bass standing in for the late Dave Alexander.
To say I'm excited at the prospect of such a thing happening is like asking me if I enjoy breathing. What the fuck do you think? Radio Birdman's 'Radios Appear', the Stooges 'Funhouse' and the Ramones classic 'It's Alive' I regard as pivotal in the history of rock and roll and changed my life for the better.
And I've just found out the Dictators (www.thedictators.com) have a live album out! Add that to the Holy Curse tour that's coming up and damn, it's a good time to be a rock and roll fan.

Abandoned Military Base Getaway Weekend
John Tynes's game designs (Puppetland, Unknown Armies) and novels (Delta Green: Rules of Engagement) are legendary among fans of modern horror. John's weekend excursion in the Pacific Northwest will take you from the intensely weird, crumbling ruin of a naval defense facility to the rooms of an aging castle that's rumored to be haunted. And then the roleplaying will begin.
That has to be one of the coolest ideas for a guided tour EVER.

An observation: based on the reactions of my family and my coworkers to my shaving my beard* on the weekend (Which has almost universally been "YOU SHAVED? When did that happen?"), if I got a 'proper' haircut I could make people's heads explode.
For those who don't know: I've had long hair for near 10 years and the last time I hacked the beard off was at least 2 years ago.

Talk Like A Pirate day once again approaches!
http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html
Most days are like all of the others, Go to work, come back home, watch TV, But, brother, if I had me druthers, I'd chuck it and head out to sea,
For I dream of the skull and the crossbones, I dream of the great day to come, When I dump the mundane for the Old Spanish Main And trade me computer for rum! ARRR!
T' me, Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho, It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day! When laptops are benches God gave us fer wenches, And a sail ain't a low price ta pay! When timbers are shivered and lillies are livered And every last buckle is swashed, We'll abandon our cars for a shipfull of ARRRs And pound back the grog till we're sloshed! Yo ho....
Don't pick up yer phone and say "Hello, Our ten-o-clock meeting's delayed", Ye scrunch up yer face and ye bellow, "AVAST! Ye've been bleedin' BELAYED!"
Ye can't keep this fun to yerself, I bet, So sing "Aye!" "ARRR!" "Ayy!" every man! We ain't got much grasp of the alphabet, But a damn good retirement plan!
T' me, Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho, It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day! Whatever's in fashion is in for a thrashin' And bein' polite is passe! When it's ev'ry man's duty to grab his proud beauty And let out a hearty YO HO! And if this offends you, hold y'r breath as we sends you Ta Davy Jones' Locker ya go! Yo ho....
We'll tell every banker "Heave to and weigh anchor!" Buy latte with pieces of eight We'll fight to be chosen as cap'n or bosun The loser, o' course, is worst mate!
When we hoist Jolly Roger, the landlubbers dodge 'er, We fill 'em with loathing and fear, We'll plunder and pillage each city and village, Or at least clean out Wal-Mart of beer!
There ain't no computin' or morning commutin', No "Parking Lot Full" signs for me, No lawns ta be mowin' or bills to be owin', I'm knowin' the pull of the sea.
The fresh salty brace of the wind on my face Through hurricane, sunshine or squalls, I'm keepin' my eyes on the distant horizon, Verizon can hold all my calls!
To wear a red coat full o' buckles, To earn a few duelling scars, Well, at least we can get a few chuckles By filling the office with ARRRs!
And maybe we'll never get closer, Than watchin' 'em on the big screen, So here's to old Errol and Depp as Jack Sparrow, And every damn one in between!
T' me, Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho, It's "Talk Like A Pirate" Day! That time in September when sea dogs remember That grown-ups still know how ta play! When wenches are curvy and dogs are all scurvy And a soft-wear patch covers your eye, Ta hell with our jobs, for one day we're all swabs And buccaneers all till we die!
So hoist up the mainsils and shut down your brain cells, They only would get in the way, Avast there, me hearty, we're havin' a party, It's "Talk... Like... A Pirate" Day!
MP3 available from: www.tomsmithonline.com in the Free Stuff section (Just skip past the site's intro - it's bloody noisy.)
And in other news: my Mil Sim orders arrived chuck full of Conan goodness. Arrrrr!!!

Joss Whedon.
5PM today.
The Orient, 89 George St, The Rocks.
Be there.
To explain: I got out of bed at 11:30AM this morning, stumbled downstairs and got a call from Rob, explainng the situation. Joss had posted on the Serenity Oz boards saying he'd be at the pub for a quiet drink about 5pm. When I got there about 6 people were there - by 5:30 about 100 were there. :)
EDIT: I met the man and he is awesome. Got a couple of photos and the Mal cover of Serenity #1 signed. Shiny.
Caught up with some gamers I know and a guy I hadn't seen since high school. Pimped Jame's D&D LARP to some. :)
Considering I only goot out of bed at 11:30AM, it's been a shiny day. :)

My head hurts. Bright light is evil and MUST BE PUNISHED!
In other news the bucks night was a hoot. malinari86 wearing a dress and crown drinking vodka from a baby bottle, people yelling "Conan, what is best in life?" at me numerous times, the cries of "Arrrrrr!" as we walked up to the bar (Someone had produced an eyepatch and naturally we got all piratical), the signatures and various other writings all over malinari86's chest (And back) at the restaurant and the shirtless man group hug which I was wise enough to *not* participate in. sirtwist drunkenly plucking up the courage to ask my age - he and divaflip were curious after I'd mentioned my Iron Maiden fandom. (They thought I was 30.) boots262's attempting to destroy an ad for strawberry vodka, as Dave drank a bottle (Well, minus 6 shots) and vomited on boots262's couch at his housewarming.
I hope the photo's get sent out soon. The graffiti on malinari86's belly was hilarious.</span>
It was awesome. I want to do it again.

I found my Dub War CD's! Well chuffed - been ages since I listened to them. Imagine this utterly rockin' mix of reggae, hip hop and heavy metal - it is, as they say teh uber. :) It's a pity they broke up cause only 5 or so people (Including me) actually listened to them. Oh well.
And my new icon PITY'S THE FOOL!
